“Pivot Point” brings together 8 young artists as they navigate their physical realities amidst a “new” everyday that is continually framed and reshaped by technology. With a terminology that originates from the field of the financial and scientific sector that takes reference to the current market as a baseline, the artists in “Pivot Point” shares an interest with the precarious balance of their immediate landscape amidst their fascination for personal cosmologies creating an assemblage of fragmented documents that is otherwise fictional and prophetic.

The exhibition is a representation of the tipping point of resolutions and strategies that the artists utilises to reflect upon and negotiate their sense of belonging and agency through different mediums and materiality in this world of convergences - their residence and sanctuary that is filled with intersecting geographies, cultures, societies and histories. Materialised from their daily living experience, the exhibition shows the seamless integration of physical and digital influences thus presenting a possible “new” everyday where the visitors are invited to engage more critically and deeply with the world they inhabit through the lens of the artists.

What is Outc.ontext?

Outc.ontext is a collective formed by Tan Wei and Hui Wen as a space for experimentation and conversations about our everyday experience which can often end up... Out of context at times. As artists first and curators second, we each bring in our own ideas and perspectives before finding/ reinventing new narratives based on the common points found within our own narration. As a collective, we hope to highlight the conversations formed within the intersection of curation and artmaking, as well as to create a dynamic space where art can be experienced and interpreted in a multitude of ways, often leading to unexpected and out-of-context insights that enrich our understanding of art and its role in society.
